1 Dead, 3 Shot at San Francisco Gay Pride Event
The 40th annual gay pride weekend drew thousands to Civic Center Plaza Saturday, and more were expected Sunday for the parade, a concert and comments from U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. However the event was marred after a shooting during the street party on Saturday night. In the shooting 19-year-old Stephen Powell died. and a 19-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, were injured but are expected to survive. A 19-year-old man is in custody....
Catholic Charity WINS gay adoption ruling
An independent Catholic charity won a High Court battle on Wednesday over adoption laws that would have forced it to consider gay couples as parents. Catholic Care, a registered adoption agency, wants special dispensation from sexual orientation regulations which forbid it from giving children solely to heterosexual couples.
